Being a successful Internet marketer requires a person to wear many hats. They may have to know a little something about website design, article writing, video creation, search engine optimization, social media, the list goes on and on. One way to get some help without hiring full-time employees is to outsource certain tasks to freelancers.
Some people are hesitant to outsource work for a number of reasons. Some people don’t want to pay money for something that they can do themselves for free. Things like creating videos, writing articles, building backlinks etc. The thing is, there are only so many hours in the day and it’s impossible for one person to do all the work that needs to get done. Of course outsourcing is also great for people who don’t enjoy or are not good at certain tasks. Outsourcing work to freelancers is a great way to get more done in less time, and on this page I want to give you some tips for successful outsourcing.

Where to Find Workers
You can do a search on your favorite search engine for freelance work and you will find dozens of sites that bring workers and employers together. Some of the most popular sites are elance, odesk, and get a freelancer. Another great place to find people to do various tasks for you are popular Internet marketing forums. Most Internet marketing forums have a classified ads section where people can offer their services for sale. There are also micro outsourcing sites where you can get small jobs done very inexpensively. Sites like fiverr (and the various fiverr clones) and Amazon Mechanical Turk.
Now that you know what a big help outsourcing can be, and where to find freelance workers, I would like to offer some tips on outsourcing successfully.
Clearly Define Your Project
If you want your project to be done a certain way you have to clearly spell it out in your project description. For example, when some people hire a writer to create content for their website, they might just give them a keyword phrase and tell them that they want a 500 word article. To make sure you are getting exactly what you want it would be better to also include what type of angle you want on the article. If you are having a product review written, you need to clearly state if it should be a positive or negative review. If it is an informational article on a site that is selling a product, tell the writer if you want just pure information or if you would like them to include a soft sell toward the end of the article. The point is, the better you define your expectations, the more likely you are to end up with a product you will be happy with.
Do Your Due Diligence
Before you hire someone, spend a few minutes making sure they are a reliable service provider. On sites like elance or odesk you can look at ratings that other people have left for the workers that bid on your job. If you are hiring someone from a forum, wait until there are some reviews in their sales thread to see what other people think about the work they do.
Start off with a Small Job
The first time you hire someone, give them a small job that doesn’t cost you very much money. If they do terrible work and screw things up, at least it didn’t cost you very much. If the person proves that they can do a good job and get it done in a timely fashion, then you can feel comfortable giving them more work and paying them more money.
Don’t Make Your Decision Based on Price Alone
On a lot of the freelancer websites people will try to win jobs by outbidding each other. Sometimes you get what you pay for, and the cheapest guy is not necessarily going to be the best deal. A lot of times you can save yourself time and money in the long run by paying a little more for good quality service.
